In an attempt to loot 3 kilograms and 765 grams of gold from the Sangrur railway station, three individuals have been arrested by the Sangrur police, including the sarpanch from Raipur, in connection with the case.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Jay Ram, a sarpanch from Raipur district, and Nishan Singh, a resident of Sarav Bodla Muktsar. The police had already apprehended Raju Ram, a police officer from Abohar, earlier in connection with the case.
The incident involved Ashish Kumar from Ramsaran district, Jay Ram from Raipur district, Vinod Kumar from Sito Gunno district, and Nishan Singh from Sarav Bodla Muktsar. They were accused of attempting robbery, making threats, and brandishing weapons near the G.R.P. station in Sangrur.
According to reports, Raju Ram, an employee of Shree Bright Majestic Company in Surat, known for crafting gold jewelry, arrived at the Sangrur railway station on Sunday night from Delhi, carrying 3 kilograms and 765 grams of gold ornaments. The suspects, Ashish Kumar, Jay Ram, Vinod Kumar, and Nishan Singh, allegedly intercepted Raju Ram at the station.
Upon realizing the situation, the police, including officers Ashish Kumar and Vinod Kumar, cornered Raju Ram and coerced him into surrendering his bag. The suspects were attempting to flee towards Bathinda in a car with registration number PB15AX2747.Acting on the information, the police set up a barricade near North Estate during the early hours of Monday. When the car occupants attempted to escape, they engaged in a scuffle with the police team, abandoning the bag, and fled the scene.
During the scuffle, the police managed to apprehend Ashish Kumar and confiscated the bag containing gold. Subsequently, Nishan Singh and Jay Ram were arrested by the police.The police have registered a case against Ashish Kumar, Jay Ram, Vinod Kumar, and Nishan Singh under various charges related to robbery and threatening behavior. Further investigation is underway to gather more details about the attempted heist.
