Sanjay Tandon halts transfer of Haryana Panchayati Raj funds to HDFC Bank

Thanks to the efforts of Sanjay Tandon, the former president of Chandigarh Pradesh BJP and co-incharge of Himachal Pradesh BJP, the bank accounts of Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) associated with the Panchayati Raj Department of Haryana will no longer be transferred to HDFC Bank. All bank accounts will continue to be operated with the public sector (PSU) banks in the state, as they were before.

A delegation from PSU banks met BJP leader Sanjay Tandon on Tuesday to express gratitude for his cooperation. The delegation included Rajesh Kumar, GM PNB and Convener SLBC Haryana; Chaman Lal, GM Punjab & Sindh Bank; Sarangi GM, Central Bank of India; and Mukesh Upadhyay, GM, Bank of Maharashtra.

Recently, Sanjay Tandon organized a meeting with a delegation of General Managers from various 12 PSU banks, including PNB Bank GM Dr. Rajesh Kumar, and Convenor (SLBC), with Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar. During the meeting, the delegation briefed Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar about the situation, prompting immediate action from the Chief Minister. Subsequently, the orders issued by the Panchayati Raj Department on November 23, 2023, regarding the bank accounts of public undertakings, were withdrawn. New orders were issued on January 4, 2024, stating that the bank accounts of the Panchayati Raj Department will continue to be operated in PSU banks, as before.

During the meeting with Chief Minister Manohar Lal, the delegation of banks highlighted how PSU banks contribute to public welfare in the state. They also expressed concerns to Chief Minister Manohar Lal about certain government departments favoring private banks for advances, deposits, and salary bank accounts. In response, the Chief Minister advised the delegation to hold a meeting with the GMs of banks and various departmental heads to enhance coordination for the efficient implementation of welfare policies. This ensures that the benefits reach the last person in the queue. The Chief Minister also discussed the economic upliftment of low-income group families.
