Sangram Singh Becomes the First Indian Male Wrestler to Achieve Victory in MMA Fight

International wrestler Sangram Singh achieved a significant milestone in the Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) arena by winning his debut fight at the Gama International Fighting Championship in Tbilisi. Singh secured a victory in just one minute and thirty seconds against Pakistani fighter Ali Raza Nasir, who is seventeen years his junior.

This remarkable achievement marks the fastest win ever recorded by an Indian fighter in the 93 kg division, showcasing Singh’s effective transition from wrestling to mixed martial arts. The Commonwealth heavyweight wrestling champion demonstrated exceptional grappling skills and strategic prowess during the India versus Pakistan match.

“I am immensely proud to bring this victory home for India. I hope this recognition on a global scale will motivate the Indian government to implement programs that support mixed martial arts (MMA) and inspire young people to pursue this sport,” Singh said in a statement. He expressed confidence that this win would encourage many young athletes to strive for greatness and overcome obstacles in the world of MMA.

Singh’s historic victory not only highlights his personal achievement but also reflects the growing awareness and recognition of Indian fighters in the international mixed martial arts community. As the first male wrestler from India to enter and win in the MMA scene, he is poised to pave the way for future athletes.

The Gama International Fighting Championship is renowned for its competitive spirit and diverse lineup of fighters from around the globe. Sangram Singh’s win adds to the excitement of this prestigious event, further demonstrating the potential of Indian athletes in combat sports.
