Sambalpur Violence: Internet connections to be stopped till 22 April

On Thursday, the Odisha government added an additional 48 hours to the suspension of internet access in the Sambalpur area.

Internet services will be suspended until 10 am on 22 April according to a new order from the state Home Department. The western Odisha region, comprising Sambalpur city, will however, get access to internet and leased lines starting today from 10 am to 5 pm.

Following a violent altercation on 12 April between two groups in Sambalpur city during a bike protest and on 14 April during the Hanuman Jayanti celebration, the administration shut down internet connectivity throughout the district.
