The anger of the rural people in 16 Gram Panchayats of Mandalgarh, Bhilwara district, over the government’s decision to move them from Bhilwara district to the newly created Shahpura district has resurfaced.
The villagers have warned the government of a protest and vote boycott in the upcoming Legislative Assembly elections if their demand is not met by September 20th. Village head Chanda Devi Prajapat explained that the demand to include the 16 Gram Panchayats of Mandalgarh back into Bhilwara district instead of Shahpura had led to a month-long protest outside the sub-district office under the leadership of the Sarpanch Sangh and the Manpura Bachao Struggle Committee.
However, the government and administration ignored their pleas.
During this time, under the directions of the state government, two representatives of the District Congress Committee assured the villagers that their demands would be met within ten days, extending the protest of the villagers. Despite a week passing, the government has not made a decision regarding removing Mandalgarh’s 16 Gram Panchayats from Shahpura district.
