Rs 75 coin to be unveiled during launch of new Parliament building

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will unveil a special Rs 75 denomination coin during the inauguration ceremony of the new Parliament building, according to a press release issued by the Ministry of Finance on Friday. The highly anticipated event is scheduled to take place on Sunday, May 28, as PM Modi dedicates the magnificent structure to the nation.
The Ministry of Finance has disclosed that the obverse face of the coin will feature the iconic Lion Capital of the ‘Ashoka Pillar’ at its centre, with the inscription ‘Satyamev Jayate’ displayed below. The Ashoka Pillar will be accompanied by the word ‘Bharat’ in Devnagri script on the left periphery, and ‘INDIA’ in English on the right periphery.

On the reverse face of the coin, there will be a depiction of the impressive Parliament Complex. The upper periphery will bear the inscription ‘Sansi Sankul’ in Devnagari script, while the lower periphery will display ‘PARLIAMENT COMPLEX’ in English. Additionally, the year ‘2023’ will be inscribed below the image of the Parliament Complex in International numerals, as detailed by the Ministry. The coin will have a circular shape, with a diameter of 44 mm and a weight of approximately 35 grams. It will boast 200 serrations along its edges. In terms of composition, the coin will be comprised of 50 percent silver, 40 percent copper, 5 percent nickel, and 5 percent zinc. This special coin holds significant importance as India commemorates its 75th year of independence in 2023. The launch of the Rs 75 denomination coin serves as a testament to the monumental occasion, as well as a tribute to the rich heritage and democratic values upheld within the walls of the Parliament.
The Ministry of Finance, in its press release, highlighted the remarkable symbolism embedded in the design of the coin, showcasing the Ashoka Pillar and the grand Parliament Complex. These elements represent India’s historical legacy, as well as its unwavering commitment to democracy.

The introduction of the commemorative coin is expected to evoke a sense of pride and national unity among the citizens, as they witness the inauguration of the new Parliament building and celebrate the 75th year of India’s independence.
As Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveils the Rs 75 coin during the inaugural ceremony, it will serve as a lasting memento of this historic event and a reminder of the nation’s progress and aspirations for the future.
