Row erupts over Jenny Johal’s song ‘Letter to CM’ in Punjab

Jenny Johal’s song created a stir in Punjab Politics and Pollywood as a result Jenny Johal has been receiving threats. As per a recent address of Sidhu Moose Wala’s Father Balkaur Singh, he alleged that Punjab Police SSP is threatening Jenny Johal over various FIRs against her. Simultaneously Punjab Opposition Congress alleged the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government was behind the removal of singer Jenny Johal’s song ‘Letter to CM’ from youtube as it is critical to their intentions.

“We strongly oppose the removal of the song on YouTube. Whosoever raises voice for justice for Moosewala, our party will stand firmly with them,” Leader of Opposition and Congress MLA from Qadian Partap Singh Bajwa tweeted as he pointed out that the song was removed.

“I condemn banning of @jennyjohalmusic meaningful song from YouTube at d behest of @BhagwantMann govt merely bcoz she exposed family rule of Cm besides exposing anti people policies of his govt. This is not “Badlav it is “Badla” politics of @ArvindKejriwal not even sparing artists,” tweeted Congress MLA from Bholath Sukhpal Singh Khaira.

Dirty politics is not our DNA. That’s why we have the people’s goodwill …

Khaira in his tweet also shared a portion from Johal’s video song which sought to know who decided to trim the security details of Moosewala ahead of his murder. It showed the family of Moosewala mourning his death and CM Mann’s wedding. It also had visuals of CM Mann performing Garba in Gujarat and Moosewala’s father undergoing treatment at a hospital. The song revolves around the punch-line “ghar saade vain paye, goonjan tuhaade ghar shehnayiyan (While we mourn the deaths, you celebrate your functions)”.

It’s been more than four months since Sidhu Moose Wala was killed in Punjab’s Mansa district. Since then, the fans and family members of the slain singer have been seeking justice for him. In the meanwhile, Jenny Johal recently released the song ‘Letter to CM’ seeking justice for Sidhu Moose Wala. In the song, Jenny Johal questioned Bhagwant Mann to have a merry at his place while Moosewala’s family is suffering the loss of their son. After the song got released, it got banned within 24 hours and was removed from the youtube platform.

While addressing the audience, Balkaur Singh said, “Two daughters dared to speak up. One was Rupinder Handa and the other was Jenny Johal. Jenny posted a song and now she has been receiving threats from SSP that they will file FIR against her and that she will not get bail for six months.”

Jenny Johal receives ‘threat’ from Punjab Police over ‘Letter to CM’ song seeking justice for Sidhu Moose Wala. “You talk about the Right to Speech and if some people express and raise their voice via songs, you give threats to them.,” she added.

It may be recalled that Sidhu Moose Wala was shot dead in the Jawaharke
village of Punjab’s Mansa on May 29.
