Roadblocks, market closure, protests amid ‘Rajasthan Bandh’

The protest led to a prolonged traffic jam on the Ajmer highway in Jaipur, lasting nearly two hours before finally clearing in the afternoon. Demonstrators effectively shut down the Ajmer highway and key locations such as the BJP headquarters, railway station, bus stand, and markets. People from various segments of society, along with the Rajput community, united in demanding the immediate arrest of the accused. Additionally, schools in several cities declared holidays in response to the situation.
In Jaipur, around 800 buses were affected due to the shutdown. Only a few buses departed early in the morning from the Sindhi Camp bus stand, but protesters halted them en route. Around 10 am, demonstrators reached the Sindhi Camp bus stand and stopped bus operations. Meanwhile, roadway buses from other states were also unable to operate.
In the Mansarovar to Badi Chaupar route, people travelled by metro. Sharad Kumar, the Public Relations Officer of Jaipur Metro, stated that all trains operated on schedule, ensuring people reached their destinations safely. Subsequently, after 6 pm, the roadways services also started operating as per the regular schedule.
Protests outside Metro Mass Hospital affected many patients
After the attack, Sukhedav Singh Gogamedi was taken to Metro Mass Hospital where he was declared dead. The Rajput society collectively decided against conducting the post-mortem and cremation of Gogamedi’s body until justice was served. Consequently, protests outside the hospital have persisted since yesterday afternoon. The murder prompted the arrival of numerous leaders and MLAs at the hospital, intensifying the protest. Unfortunately, these political and time-consuming demonstrations are hindering patients from accessing the hospitals. The existing patients also are visibly distressed and frustrated by the ongoing demonstrations. Supporters have amassed in front of the emergency gate, occasionally entering the hospital premises, prompting a reinforcement of security measures.
On Wednesday, many big faces of the society including BJP MLA Bal Mukund Acharya, former BJP Leader of Opposition Rajendra Rathore, former ministers Pushpendra Singh Ranaut and Rajendra Guda, MLA Rajendra Singh Shergarh reached the hospital and supported the demand for justice.
