The Mumbai Sessions Court will today announce its decision on the bail plea filed by actress Rhea Chakraborty and her brother Showik Chakraborty in relation with drugs in the Sushant Singh Rajput suicide case.
Earlier, the court had reserved its order on Thursday on the plea which was filed by both the accused after being sent to judicial custody. The court was also hearing bail pleas of Abdul Basit, Zaid Vilatra, Dipesh Sawant and Samuel Miranda along with Rhea and Showik.
While defending herself, Rhea said in her plea that she was being coerced into making self-incriminatory confessions by the investigating officers. Apart from this, she also told that she was being interrogated by multiple male officers of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) and not a single lady officer was there to interrogate her.
In her bail plea, the actress also said her life is under threat as she has been at the receiving end of hundreds of death and rape threats. The actress who spent one more night at Mumbai’s Byculla women’s jail may face 10 years of jail if found guilty in the case.
Meanwhile, opposing Rhea’s bail plea, the NCB told the court that it was clear that she used to procure drugs for Sushant for consumption purposes and also used to manage finances for drug procurement along with her boyfriend, as per disclosures made by her after arrest. Special public prosecutor Atul Sirpandey told the Court that it was not necessary that something had to be recovered to prove the criminal conspiracy and criminal conspiracy could be proved without any recovery. However, the others who were also arrested in connection with the drugs case including Abbas Lakhani, Karan Arora and Kaizan Ebrahim are out on bail. This point was also raised by accused Dipesh Sawant’s lawyer Rajendra Rathod before the court.
