Recruitment of over 13,500 Group-D positions put on hold by court

The Punjab and Haryana High Court has intervened in the recruitment process for over 13,500 Group-D category positions in Haryana, putting a hold on the allocation of five points based on socio-economic criteria. This decision was made while hearing a petition filed in the Punjab and Haryana High Court.

The petitioner alleged that using socio-economic status as a pretext, special individuals were being favored with an additional five-point advantage, which they argued was unfair compared to the general category.

The court’s directive comes as a response to concerns raised regarding the manipulation of socio-economic categories to benefit specific individuals. By providing an additional five-point advantage based on economic and social backgrounds, it was argued that preferential treatment was being granted, resulting in injustice to other general category candidates.

This move by the High Court suspends the implementation of the socio-economic criteria until further review, ensuring a fair and unbiased recruitment process for Group-D positions in Haryana.

The decision aims to address the allegations of favoritism and uphold the principles of equality and meritocracy in the recruitment system. As the legal proceedings continue, it remains a significant point of debate and scrutiny in the ongoing recruitment process for these positions in Haryana.
