According to the Chandigarh Meteorological Center, the rainfall commenced at 1:20 AM last night and persisted for nearly 9 hours, accumulating approximately 39 mm of precipitation. The maximum temperature on Thursday was recorded at 16.6 degrees Celsius, marking a departure of 9 degrees below the seasonal average. The Meteorological Department anticipates dense fog along with overcast skies for the next two days.
Reports indicate that this is the lowest maximum temperature recorded so far this season. It’s noteworthy that, for the first time since 2011, the daytime temperature has been documented at such a low level. The minimum temperature was noted at 15 degrees Celsius, which was 4 degrees below the usual. The Chandigarh Meteorological Center reported that the rainfall began at around 1:20 AM in the city.
According to meteorological figures, this November has seen the highest rainfall recorded in recent years. In the 24 hours leading up to Thursday evening, the city received unprecedented rainfall, and several places witnessed waterlogging. The department states that the rainfall has significantly altered the city’s temperature. Fog is expected to blanket the city starting Friday. From October to date, Chandigarh has witnessed 78.2 mm of rainfall.
