RAS aspirants take to streets, seek exam schedule revision

The opposition to the recruitment exam for the Administrative Service in the state is escalating consistently. On Tuesday, aspirants began a sit-in protest in front of Rajasthan University, demanding a postponement of the exam date. Aspirants argued that providing less than three months for the preparation of the first-ever Mains examination is not only inadequate for the youth but also detrimental to the future of Rajasthan.
In addition to the protest, aspirants have taken to social media, posting pictures of letters written in blood, questioning the government’s sensitivity by invoking the name of Lord Rama. Demonstrators stated that less than three months for the Mains exam preparation is insufficient. In response, they declared that if the government does not revise the recruitment exam schedule to allow more preparation time, youth across the state will intensify their fight against the government.
Protesters accused the government of retaining the same experts to design the papers even after the change in administration. They demanded a change and suggested employing new techniques for printing and paper creation.
They emphasized that the duty assignments for aspirants working in government services during the period between the Preliminary and Main examinations leave them with inadequate time for preparation. According to them, there should be a minimum of three months between the Preliminary and Main examinations. The Rajasthan Public Service Commission has scheduled the Rajasthan Administrative Service Main Recruitment Exam for January 27 and 28. Despite widespread protests and the support of 20 legislators who have written to the government, there has been no change in the exam schedule as of now.
