Ranbir Kapoor starrer ‘Animal’, directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, stormed into theaters on December 1, marking a phenomenal start at the box office. Despite clashing with Meghna Gulzar’s ‘Sam Bahadur’, the film witnessed exceptional success, grossing a whopping Rs 63.80 crore across all languages on its release day, according to trade analyst Taran Adarsh.

Adarsh’s statement revealed that the Hindi version alone amassed Rs 54.75 crore, marking the biggest opening for an ‘Adults’ certified film and setting a new record as Ranbir Kapoor’s career’s highest opener.

The film, a narrative centered on the intricate relationship between a father and son portrayed by Anil and Ranbir Kapoor, showcased Ranbir’s character as fiercely protective and relentless in safeguarding his father’s affection, confronting anyone obstructing his path.

Released in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam, the 3-hour, 21-minute epic resonated well with audiences, captivating them with its intense storyline and powerful performances. Co-starring Anil Kapoor, Rashmika Mandana, Shakti Kapoor, and Triptii Dimri, ‘Animal’ explores themes of instinctive behavior and familial devotion, explained Ranbir Kapoor during a promotional event.

The actor suggested that the film’s title, ‘Animal’, embodies the impulsive and protective nature of his character, resonating with instinctual responses rather than calculated thoughts, a core aspect brilliantly depicted in the movie. Ranbir Kapoor hinted that the film’s title would become more meaningful once audiences witnessed the depth of his character’s instincts and actions on screen.
