Ram temple work begins, may take 36-40 months to finish

The construction of the Ram Janmabhoomi temple has begun. According to the Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Teerth Kshetra, engineers from CBRI Roorkee and IIT Madras, along with L&T, are now testing the soil at the temple site. The construction work is expected to finish in 36-40 months. In a series of tweets by the official Twitter handle of the Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Teerth Kshetra, it was said that the temple would be built by adhering to India’s ancient and traditional construction techniques. It will also be built to sustain earthquakes, storms and other natural calamities. Iron won’t be used in the construction of the temple.

It further stated that for temple construction, copper plates are going to be used to fuse stone blocks with each other. The plates should be 18 inches long, 30mm wide and 3 mm in dept. 10,000 such plates may be required in total structure. It exhorted Ram bhakts to donate such copper plates to the Trust. Apart from that, it also stated that donors can engrave family names, place of origin or their community temples name on these plates. This way, the copper plate will not only symbolise the unity of this country, but also be a testament to the entire country’s contribution toward the temple construction.

On Thursday, a meeting of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi was held in Delhi which was attended by Nripendra Mishra, Champat Rai, Swami Govind Giri, Anil Mishra and others. This meeting lasted for close to two-and-a-half hours and it was stressed upon in this meeting that the construction of the Ram temple should be completed in 36 to 40 months. It was also discussed that there should be a daily evaluation of the work done and the material used in the construction of the temple.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had conducted the bhoomi pujan of the Ram temple and laid the foundation stone of the temple at Ram Janmabhoomi in Ayodhya on 5 August.
