Niti Aayog vice-chairman Rajiv Kumar resigned on Friday and will be succeeded by Suman K. Berry. Kumar was in his post since August 2017 after the exit of Arvind Panagariya from the National Institution for Transforming India (NITI Aayog), which replaced the Planning Commission once the Narendra Modi government came to power in May 2014.
Suman Bery is a senior visiting fellow at Delhi’s Centre for Policy Research. He is also a Global Fellow in the Asia program of the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars in Washington DC. He has also served as a member of the Prime Minister’s Economic Advisory Council. His appointment comes into effect from 1 May 2022.
