Rajasthan government intensifies efforts to combat seasonal diseases

Under the guidance of Medical and Health Minister Gajendra Singh Khinvsar, the Rajasthan government is intensifying efforts to prevent seasonal diseases. The number of medical teams deployed across the state will be increased, and their activities will undergo district-wise reviews for effective management.
Principal Secretary of the Medical and Health Department, Gayatri Rathore, led a review meeting on the status of seasonal diseases and issued key directives. She emphasised that various health officials, including LHV, CHO, and medical officers, must operate in mission mode to ensure comprehensive disease prevention and monitoring.
Rathore called for the strengthening of the control room for seasonal diseases, located at the directorate level, to register and resolve complaints within 24 hours. Similarly, issues reported to district-level control rooms must also be addressed promptly. Rapid response teams are to be deployed in areas affected by diseases such as dengue, malaria, and chikungunya, providing necessary examinations and treatments for severe cases. Immediate referrals to medical institutions will be ensured as needed. She instructed Chief Medical and Health Officers to focus on hotspots of seasonal diseases and take swift action to curb the spread of infections. Adequate stocks of medicines and pesticides are to be maintained, and daily status reviews will inform the next steps, with reports sent to the Directorate. Rathore also stressed the importance of public awareness campaigns to educate the community on preventive measures. Residents are encouraged to wear protective clothing, manage stagnant water around their homes, and seek medical attention promptly in case of symptoms.
Additionally, a separate OPD will be operated for patients of seasonal diseases in Sawai Mansingh Hospital. Principal of Sawai Mansingh Medical College Dr Deepak Maheshwari said that OPD will be operated from 8 am to 8 pm near the Vehicle Branch and Critical Care Block in front of Emergency Services. The Professor and Head of the Department of Medicine will oversee this OPD. The Department of Tropical Medicine will also provide necessary support in this.
Additional Director Gazetted Dr Ravi Prakash Sharma, Additional Director Rural Health Dr Praveen Aswal and Deputy Director (Malaria) Dr Nirmala Sharma were present in the meeting.
