The meeting between Raj Thackeray, the leader of the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena, and Devendra Fadnavis, the state’s deputy chief minister and a member of the BJP, led to rumours that the two parties would form an alliance before the BMC elections.
On Monday, Raj Thackeray left his home at about 6.45 am and arrived at Devendra Fadnavis’ home around 7.30 am. The two leaders spoke for roughly an hour during the private encounter.
However, neither party has provided a formal confirmation.
After visiting Raj Thackeray’s home to check on his health following hip replacement surgery in July, Fadnavis convened the meeting a month later.
Raj Thackeray has been active since his surgery, as seen by his recent trip to Pune for the party’s membership campaign.
