Congress leader Rahul Gandhi will pay his first visit to his late father Rajiv Gandhi’s memorial in Sriperumbudur, Tamil Nadu, on 21 May, on the occasion of the former Prime Minister’s death anniversary, according to party sources who revealed the news on Thursday.
Rahul had previously visited the memorial for the first time on September 7 ahead of the party’s “Bharat Jodo Yatra.” On the night of May 21, 1991, a female suicide bomber named Dhanu assassinated the former prime minister at a poll rally in Sriperumbudur, Tamil Nadu. At least 13 people were killed and over 40 were injured in the blast.
