Rahul Gandhi Starts First Rally for Maharashtra Elections in RSS Bastion

Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha and senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi will kick off the Maharashtra campaign from Nagpur, the bastion of the Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS), where he will address the Samvidhaan Samman Sammelan.

According to Congress leaders in Maharashtra, Rahul Gandhi’s visit to Nagpur, which is historically known as an RSS stronghold, for Samvidhan Sammelan is a promise to bring together people from all walks of life.

The party leaders here said that this gathering, organised as the Samvidhan Samman Sammelan, aims to foster unity, welcoming citizens, community leaders, and dignitaries from across the Vidarbha region.

The sabha will offer an informal setting, allowing attendees to connect directly with the Gandhi scion in a spirit of openness and dialogue.

Organisers Umesh Koram and Anil Jai Hind, along with notable figures such as MLC Abhijit Wanjarri and former minister Nitin Raut, have emphasised the importance of this gathering in strengthening Congress’s ties with diverse communities in Vidarbha.

This gathering in Nagpur is not a political event — it is a symbol of shared values and inclusivity. Gandhi’s visit reaffirms his role as a dedicated leader, committed to fostering a future that values every voice and embraces unity across the region, the party leaders said.

Rahul Gandhi has been holding Samvidhaan Samman Sammelan in several parts of the country.

He has earlier addressed several meetings of the Samvidhaan Samman Sammelan in Delhi, Lucknow, Ranchi, and other cities.

The party leaders said that after the programme at Nagpur, the Congress leader will travel to Mumbai, where he, along with party chief Mallikarjun Kharge, Shiv Sena UBT chief Uddhav Thackeray, and NCP Chief Sharad Pawar, will address the first joint public meeting of the Maha Vikas Aghadi in Mumbai’s BKC ground.

According to party leaders, the MVA will be releasing its common minimum programme in terms of guarantees for farmers, youths, women, and all sections of society in the state.

The MVA is looking to repeat the performance of the Lok Sabha elections held earlier this year in the state and is confident of dislodging the Mahayuti government consisting of the BJP, Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena, and the Ajit Pawar-led NCP in the November 20 polls for the 288-member assembly.

Counting of votes will take place on November 23.
