A total of 30 farmer organisations of Punjab have accepted the invitation of the Central Government for talks on new Central agri laws. A decision in this regard was taken at a meeting of these organisations held at Kisan Bhavan here, on Thursday. During the meeting chaired by farmer leader Harmeet Singh Qadian, about five hours long discussion was held.
Buta Singh Burjgill, president of the Bharatiya Kisan Union, Ekta (Dakonda) said that Dr Darshan Pal, Balbir Singh Rajewal and Kulwant Singh Sandhu would be their speakers for the meeting with Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Tomar and Railway Minister Piyush Goyal in Delhi on Friday. The leaders of the 30 farmer organisations will also be present during the meeting.
Burjgill also informed that these farmer organisations reviewed the preparations for the indefinite call of Delhi-Chalo from 26-27 November, led by around 500 farmer bodies of the country and decided to join this event with large convoys of tractor-trolleys.
During the meeting, the farmer groups also decided that the farmers would continue their agitation on Diwali as well. Farmers’ organisations also demanded that the Punjab government should release the outstanding amount of sugarcane to the farmers immediately and the rate should be fixed at least Rs 350. The next meeting of farmer organisations will be held on 18 November at Kisan Bhawan, Chandigarh.
