Punjab takes charge: Goindwal Thermal Plant acquisition to tackle power crisis

After acquiring the Goindwal Thermal Plant, the government is preparing to resolve the power crisis in Punjab. The thermal plant will commence electricity production by June. It is noteworthy that a committee has been formed for the maintenance of the plant. The Punjab government has purchased the Goindwal Thermal Plant for 1087 crores.
It is important to mention that the 540-megawatt capacity thermal plant was operating at half capacity. Comprehensive planning is underway to increase its capacity. Meanwhile, a committee led by M.R. Bansal, Chief Engineer of Lehra Mohabbat Thermal Plant, has been formed. The committee includes Deputy Chief Engineer Indrajit Singh Sandhu from Lehra Thermal Plant, Chief Auditor Rajan Gupta, Engineer Baljinder Singh from Lehra Thermal Plant, and Engineer Gurinder Singh from Ropar Thermal Plant. K.K. Bansal, Deputy Chief Engineer of Fuel, and Ranjeet Singh, Monitoring Engineer from Ropar Thermal Plant, have also been included.
The name of this thermal plant has been registered with the company name Guru Ramdas Thermal Plant Limited. A letter has been written to the central government for the use of PowerCoal. The thermal plant will undergo repairs, and after addressing all deficiencies, the government is preparing to organize an inauguration ceremony.
