Punjab Police raids pharmaceutical warehouse in Ahmedabad, seizes over 14.72 lakh banned pills

In a crackdown against drug trafficking, Punjab Police conducted raids across various locations, including a pharmaceutical warehouse of Galas Pharmaceuticals in Ahmedabad, seizing more than 14.72 lakh restricted pills. Twelve suspects from Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, and Tarn Taran, Punjab, were apprehended in connection with the illicit drug supply network.

Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar and ACP Abhimanyu Rana of Amritsar revealed that continuous raids by separate police teams have been initiated to apprehend other members of the syndicate. The investigation has led to the recovery of a significant quantity of banned pills and capsules. Two suspects were already incarcerated, taken into custody on production warrants.

The identities of those arrested from Punjab include Baljinder Singh, Akash Singh, Surjeet Singh, Gurpreet Singh, and Major Singh, all hailing from Tarn Taran’s Pattis. Major Singh, incarcerated in Gurdaspur Jail, operated the entire network using a mobile phone. Upon arresting Major Singh on a production warrant, police interrogations unveiled his procurement of banned drugs from Sachin Kumar in Mathura, Uttar Pradesh.

Subsequently, when Sachin was apprehended, he revealed that his accomplice, Yogeesh alias Rinku, also incarcerated in Mansa Jail, was orchestrating further supplies from a pharmaceutical company in Gujarat via mobile communications. Further interrogations led to the arrest of Rekha and her associate Manish from Delhi. The police, after these interrogations, conducted raids at the company’s premises, seizing more banned pills and capsules.

Amritsar Police had recently apprehended a youth named Prince for dealing with banned drugs, who confessed to procuring these from Akash Singh. Subsequently, Akash was arrested, and 18,000 restricted pills were seized from his possession. The subsequent investigation exposed the syndicate, leading to the series of arrests.
This extensive crackdown signifies a major victory against the illicit drug trade, revealing a complex network of operations spanning multiple states and individuals within the country’s borders.
