In an effort to enhance road safety and provide real-time traffic updates to commuters, the Punjab Police has launched the MapPlus app in collaboration with MapMyIndia. The app, designed as a 100% indigenous solution for India, aligns with Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s commitment to making Punjab’s roads safer.
As part of the initiative, a training program has been organized by the MapMyIndia team for the personnel of the Road Safety Force to equip them with the necessary skills and knowledge for effective use of the app. The MapPlus app aims to contribute to reducing accidents in Punjab by providing better traffic information, including speed limits, accident-prone zones, sharp turns, speed breakers, and potholes, thus aiding in accident prevention.
A.D.G.P Traffic, A.S. Rai, expressed that the collaboration with MapMyIndia is a significant step toward fulfilling the commitment to making roadways safer and providing real-time information to citizens. He stated, “We are enthusiastic about using indigenous technology to elevate the lives of Indians. The integration of MapPlus with Punjab Traffic Police’s advice and plans demonstrates our commitment.”
Rohan Verma, CEO of MapMyIndia, expressed his enthusiasm for this initiative, stating, “We are committed to uplifting the lives of Indians through indigenous technology. The integration of MapPlus with the advice and plans of the Punjab Traffic Police is a testament to our commitment.” He further mentioned that user feedback and real-time alerts can contribute to better traffic management, road safety, and efficient emergency services.
