Punjab excels in folk song and dance at National Youth Festival

Punjab has clinched notable positions in the recently concluded National Youth Festival, hosted by the Government of India. The state secured the second position in the folk song competition and an impressive third place in the folk dance category. Minister of Youth Services, Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer, extended heartfelt congratulations to the accomplished youth participants. The 27th edition of the National Youth Festival, organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports, unfolded in Nashik, Maharashtra. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from youth representing 28 states and 8 Union Territories across India. Steered by the dynamic leadership of Kulwinder Singh and Raghbir Singh Mann, Assistant Directors of the Youth Services Department in Punjab, a contingent of 100 young talents from the state actively engaged in various competitions.

Taranpreet Singh from Punjab earned the well-deserved second place in the folk song competition, while the vibrant Bhangra team secured the third position in the group folk dance category. The second-place team was awarded a cash prize of Rs. 1 lakh, and the third-place team received a commendable Rs. 75 thousand.

Minister Meet Hayer expressed his sincere congratulations to the accomplished winners, emphasizing that their achievements have significantly elevated Punjab’s reputation on the national stage. He highlighted the commitment of the State government, led by Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann, to promote and preserve the rich cultural heritage of Punjab. Minister Hayer emphasized that Punjab’s commendable standing in national competitions serves as a powerful source of inspiration for the state’s young generation.
