Punjab CM’s vision: 12 libraries to cultivate reading culture in youth

In line with Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s commitment to instill a reading habit among teenagers and youth at the village level, Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar is set to witness the establishment of 12 new libraries in its villages.

Providing further details, MLA Mohali, Kulwant Singh, revealed that each library would be constructed at a cost of Rs 30 lakh. Among the 12 approved libraries for the district, six are designated for the Mohali Constituency.

Commencing the construction work at Mauli Baidwan, Bhago Majra, and Maujpur villages, Singh not only performed the groundbreaking ceremony but also handed over the first installment of Rs 10 lakh to the Panchayats.

Singh emphasised that these state-of-the-art libraries are designed to be a haven for book lovers, equipped with modern amenities such as air-conditioning, inverters, CCTV cameras, and Wi-Fi. He envisions these libraries as true repositories of knowledge and literature.
Highlighting the potential impact, MLA Mohali stated that these libraries will contribute to bringing about behavioural changes in teenagers and youth, shaping their futures through access to a diverse range of books.

Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, an enthusiast of literature, aims to channel the youthful energy into constructive thoughts by providing quality literature through these libraries. Additionally, these libraries will serve as valuable resources for students preparing for civil and other job-oriented exams.
