Punjab CM questions governor’s qualification

Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann raised questions at Punjab Governor Banwari Lal Purohit’s asking the criteria set by Government of India for being Governor and the state’s ruling Aam Aadmi Party demanded that Governor Banwarilal should be immediately shifted elsewhere, as the row between the two escalated.
This came after Punjab Governor send letter questioning the criteria for selecting 39 government principals to Singapore for a training seminar.
And replying to the Governor’s letter made public Monday, the chief minister indirectly questioned Purohit’s credentials for the post he holds. He added that the people of Punjab want to know on what basis the central government appoints governors to various states in the absence of any fixed criteria, stressing that there are “no fixed qualifications” laid down in the Constitution. “Please increase the knowledge of Punjabis with a reply,” the letter said
He said that all the issues raised by the Governor in a letter to him are the issues related to jurisdiction of the state. Bhagwant Mann said that for these issues he is accountable to the 3 crore Punjabis who have elected him with a whopping mandate.
On Monday evening, the Governor office released a letter in the media, sternly asking the AAP government on various decisions taken by the government in the past couple of weeks, including lack of transparency in selecting Principals sent to Singapore for training.
In a letter to the Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, Purohit has questioned the appointment of “tainted” person as chairperson of Punjab Infotech, saying he was accused in a property grabbing case and kidnapping case.
