Protest erupts at Nagpur police station following suicide due to marital dispute

A tumultuous scene unfolded at a Nagpur police station as a group of individuals arrived with the lifeless body of a 27-year-old man, alleging that he had taken his own life due to relentless harassment by his in-laws. This distressing incident came to light on Thursday, prompting a flurry of inquiries.
The deceased, identified as Shantanu Walde, was a transporter and the son of a former corporator. He had entered into matrimony two years prior, but he and his wife had been grappling with marital challenges for some time, according to officials. Protesters asserted that Walde had visited his estranged wife’s residence on September 18 in an attempt to communicate with her. However, her family filed a police complaint against him, leading to his alleged mistreatment while in custody.
Tragically, Walde took his own life, prompting his relatives and friends to carry his lifeless body to the Pachpaoli police station on Wednesday afternoon, demanding justice. They cited the fact that Walde’s father-in-law was stationed at that particular police station.
