Preparations are on full swing for various programs of President Ram Nath Kovind, who is coming on a five-day visit to Himachal Pradesh. On Sunday, Speaker Vipin Singh Parmar, along with senior officers of police and other departments related to organizing the event, reviewed the preparations for a one-day special session to be held on September 17 on the Golden Jubilee Year of Himachal Pradesh’s full statehood.
In the meeting, Parmar said that the address by the President in the House is a historic occasion. Parmar further instructed all the officers not to be lax in any work related to security, protocol, hospitality and organization of the session. It was also decided in the meeting that the Covid-19 test of the officers, employees associated with the session would be conducted by the Health Department on 13, 14 and 15 September.
It’s pertinent to mention that the officers and employees of the Vidhan Sabha Secretariat, Tourism Development Corporation will also be tested for Covid-19 on September 14 and 15 in the Assembly Secretariat. Parmar also said that the Police Department should ensure the traffic and parking arrangements and work in proper coordination with the Vidhan Sabha Secretariat from the point of view of security.
The Public Works Department should also complete its work by September 15 evening, Parmar urged all the concerned. During the meeting, DGP Sanjay Kundu, IG South Range Shimla Himanshu Mishra, IG Intelligence Diljit Singh Thakur, Secretary Assembly Yashpal Sharma, besides other officers including SP Baddi Mohit Chawla, who was made camp commander for the session, were present.
