POST A MONTH-LONG COVID CURFEW, LIFE IN J&K LIMPS TOWARDS THE BUSTLE

In Jammu and Kashmir, the day-to-day is limping back to normalcy as a month-long corona curfew is being lifted in a phased manner.

According to the fresh government order, shops would be allowed to open on alternate days in the markets while weekend curfews along with night curfew will remain in force till further orders.

According to this order, public transport would be allowed to ply at 50 per cent of the seating capacity in the Orange category districts, however, it is to remain shut in the Red category districts of Jammu and Kashmir.

The government has further decided to keep all the educational institutions including colleges and universities closed along with all private coaching centers till June 15.

All the multiplexes, clubs, gyms, spas, and paid parks will also stay shut till further orders. According to the recent government categorization, based on figures available from the ground about the covid positive cases, districts Pulwama, Anantnag, Baramulla, Budgam, and Kupwara have been declared as Red zones, while Srinagar, Shopian, Ganderbal, Kulgam, and Bandipora have been categorized as Orange zones.

In Jammu city, people were facing a lot of difficulties on Monday as private transport was not plying on the roads. People of Jammu have been demanding from the government that they should be allowed to ply with 100% seat capacity while the government has asked them to move only with 50% seat capacity in a bid to prevent further outbreak of the Covid-19 virus.

Meanwhile, the Northern Railways on the instructions of J&K administration has decided to keep the Banihal-Baramulla railway link in Kashmir valley shut till June 09.
