Political heat rises in Kota as nominees emerge

On the third day of the nomination process, four candidates submitted their nominations for all four assembly seats in the Kota district. Former Parliamentary Secretary Bhawani Singh Rajawat has filed his nomination as a BJP candidate from Ladpura assembly constituency, although the party has not officially announced his candidacy yet. The district election officer issued a press note showing Bhawani Singh Rajawat’s nomination as the BJP candidate for the Ladpura assembly constituency.
In contrast, Mahesh Ahuja from Kota South submitted his nomination as a Congress candidate, but he was considered an independent candidate. Similarly, Raghuvir Prasad Nagar and Deepak Kumar filed their nominations as independent candidates for the Sangod assembly constituency. Before this, a candidate filed his nomination in Ramganj Mandi on Monday. So far, a total of five candidates have submitted their nominations.
Former Parliamentary Secretary Rajawat filed his nomination at the Ladpura sub-division office in the collectorate premises on Wednesday. Rajawat arrived with a procession of supporters from Nehru Park to the collectorate. After filing his nomination, he said, “I have been involved in serving the people of Kota Ladpura for the past 40 years. This time, local people inspired me to contest. Therefore, I filed my nomination. I hope the BJP will announce me as its candidate for this seat. If the party does not nominate me, I will file another nomination as an independent candidate and contest as an independent.” He also clarified that he has not yet decided to contest as an independent candidate.
On the other hand, Congress candidate Mahesh Ahuja submitted his nomination. Ahuja is a leader of the Sindhi community and has worked in various positions in the Congress. Despite the presence of a significant number of Sindhi voters in Kota, his community has not been given a chance so far. Therefore, Ahuja has decided to contest as an independent in Kota South. Raghuvir Prasad Nagar and Deepak Kumar filed their nominations as independent candidates for the Sangod assembly constituency.
Bhanu Pratap Singh will file his nomination on behalf of the Congress for the Sangod assembly constituency. Likewise, BJP candidate Heeralal Nagar will file his nomination on 3 November. Both candidates are in direct competition. Heeralal Nagar has previously been a legislator from this assembly constituency, while Bhanu Pratap Singh has held various positions within the Congress.
Both the BJP and Congress have not yet announced their candidates for the Kota North assembly constituency, Ladpura assembly constituency, Ramganj Mandi and Pipalda assembly constituencies.
