Police seizes illegal properties worth Rs 20 lakhs in Baramulla

In a significant crackdown on drug peddling, Baramulla police have taken decisive action by attaching properties valued at Rs 20 lakhs belonging to a notorious drug peddler, Farooq Ahmad Mir, son of Gh Mohiuddin Mir, resident of Zaspora Tangmarg, District Baramulla.
The seized properties include 1 Kanal & 10 Marlas of land along with a single-story residential house. This move comes as a part of the ongoing efforts to curb drug trafficking in the region.

The action was executed under sections 68-E read with 68-F (1) of the NDPS Act of 1985 and is directly linked to multiple cases, including FIR No.50/2019 & 55/2023 under sections 8/20, 29 NDPS Act of PS Tangmarg, and case FIR No. 142/2022 under sections 8/20 NDPS Act of PS Kunzer.

During the course of investigation and inquiry, the police identified the properties as unlawfully acquired, suspected to be from proceeds of illegal drug trafficking by the accused. This initiative underscores the relentless efforts of the police to combat the drug menace gripping the community.

Local residents of the area have praised the proactive stance taken by the police, emphasizing the importance of such measures in safeguarding the well-being of the community.

This decisive action signifies a stern warning to those involved in illicit drug activities and reinforces the commitment of law enforcement authorities in Baramulla to root out the drug menace from the region.
