On Monday morning, a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) with the state police shot himself with his service rifle at the Chief Minister’s residence in Chururu, under the Amb subdivision of Una district. The deceased, identified as Vijay Kumar (56), son of Jaisee Ram, a resident of Thaoda Dakghar, Bastanpur, Indoura, was posted at Dhangoo in the Railway Path Police Guard and was on duty from 12 midnight to 6 AM.
When another staff member arrived for duty at 6 AM, he found Vijay Kumar lying on the floor with blood, and this information was reported to the Dhangoo Peer Police Station in-charge, Rajpal Thakur. He informed the forensic team and SDPO Nurpur, Vishal Varma.
It is being reported that a suicide note was found with the deceased, in which he held himself responsible for his suicide. He mentioned that there is no blame on any family member or other individuals for his suicide. It is said that there had been a change in Vijay’s behaviour in the past few days, and he was staying quiet. Vijay leaves behind his wife and two daughters, aged 23 and 25, along with an 18-year-old son.
After the post-mortem, the police handed over the body to the relatives. A case has been registered under Section 174 of the CrPC, and the last rites will be performed with honours on Tuesday.
