While taking action against activities such as gambling and drinking in public places in the district, the police apprehended 17 gamblers. Various police teams were involved in the arrest of these individuals.
Under the leadership of Police Station Incharge Chandimandir Lalit Kumar, ASI Vinod, and his team arrested 13 gamblers from Chandimandir Light for openly gambling in a public place. The identified accused is Jagir Hasan.
Residents of Saini Mohalla Pinjore, including Gulsnavar, Akit from village Beed Ghaghar Pachankula, Rajesh Kumar from Rampur Suyugi Surajpur Pinjore, Basant from Chandimandir, Sonu from Chandimandir, Pasdev Singh from village Chandimandir, Rakesh from village Chandimandir, Sunil from village Chandikotla, Ram Kumar from village Chandikotla, Lal from Surajpur Pinjore, Manish from Surajpur Pinjore Pachankula, and Manish Sharma from Surajpur, were arrested for illegal gambling, with an amount of Rs 4270 seized. A case was registered against the accused under the Gambling Act at Chandimandir police station, leading to their arrest.
The second police team, led by Gurpal Singh, Incharge Police Post Sector 16, arrested four individuals from the Sector 16 area engaged in illegal gambling. The arrested individuals were identified as Tiku from Mauli Jangra Chandigarh, Mukesh from Ravindra Enclave Dhakauli Punjab, Krishna from Mauli Jangra Chandigarh, and Dinesh alias Rakesh from Mauli Jangra Chandigarh. A total gambling amount of Rs 4590 was recovered from the arrested individuals, and a case was registered against them at Sector 14 police station, leading to their arrest.
