In these pandemic times, we all could do with a little soul-searching, won’t we? What better than some free therapy in the form of poetry!
Tanushi Singh, a civil engineer, asserts that whenever she gets tired of playing all her roles, she uses her creativity to get in touch with her soul. A structural engineer, an Army wife, mother, blogger, and a firm believer of the power of word, she has three published books — Scribbling of My Soul, Rainbow and Her Moon and Pursuit of Sunshine in Rain.
According to Tanushi, her poetry is based on her own life experiences. “Unknowingly we grow up conditioned to be a certain way and somewhere along the road we lose our authentic self,” she says, adding that writing worked as the “voice to seek me through each poem and slowly learned to unlearn and accept who I am”.
Through her poetry, she believes words have the power to bring a positive change in someone’s life and instill positive mental growth.
Tanushi, who enhanced her writing skills on her own, started writing during her two-year sabbatical after her daughter was born in 2016. Her debut book Scribbling of My Soul, published in April 2018, is an assorted compilation of the poetry from her blog page ‘Create Believe Inspire’. Her second book Rainbow and her Moon is a poetic memoir on loving a soldier. An ode to every military wife who courageously lives while her husband is deported to dangerous lands.
As for her last book, Pursuit of Sunshine in Rain, published in August 2019, it is an autobiographical journey of how the author triumphed over her own demons and became a person. It will also be available as an audiobook from October this year.
