PM Narendra Modi congratulates Tejaswin Shankar on winning Bronze medal in high jump

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday congratulated Tejaswin Shankar after he win a bronze medal in the high jump. Tejaswani Shankar became the first Indian to win a high jump medal in Commonwealth Games 2022.

Taking to Twitter PM Modi said, “Tejaswin Shankar creates history. He wins our first high jump medal in the CWG. Congratulations to him for winning the Bronze medal. Proud of his efforts. Best wishes for his future endeavors. May he keep attaining success.”

Moreover, Shankar clinched the bronze medal in the men’s high jump with the mark of 2.22m on Wednesday.

Talking about the event, Shankar started with a successful jump of 2.10 in his first attempt in the second attempt he cleared the 2.15m hurdle.

However, former world and CWG champion Donald Thomas was tied with Tejaswin Shankar at 2.22m. Due to fewer fouls, the Indian athlete earned the bronze for India.
