PM Narendra Modi will use video conferencing to address Chintan Shivir on Friday.
The two-day Chintan Shivir is taking place in Haryana’s Surajkund. The Chintan Shivir will be attended by Home Secretaries, Director Generals of Police (DGPs) of the States, Director Generals of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), and Director Generals of Central Police Organizations (CPOs). According to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), the Chintan Shivir of Home Ministers is an initiative to offer a national perspective to policy creation on issues connected to internal security.
The Shivir would strengthen planning and coordination amongst many stakeholders at the central and state levels in the spirit of cooperative federalism.
According to the release, the Shivir will discuss topics such as the modernization of police forces, control of cybercrime, expanded use of IT in the criminal justice system, management of land borders, coastal security, women’s protection, and drug trafficking, among others.
Amit Shah, the Union Home Minister, spoke at the Chintan Shivir on Thursday in Surajkund, Haryana.
“Taking inspiration from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, this Chintan Shivir is being organised which will provide a common platform to face challenges before the nation such as cyber-crime, the spread of narcotics and cross-border terrorism in unison,” Amit Shah said.
At the gathering, which is being presided over by Amit Shah, were the chief ministers of eight states, as well as the home ministers and deputy chief ministers of sixteen other states. Amit Shah emphasised that the Northeast and J-K are currently the development centres.
“Today the nature of crimes is changing and they are becoming borderless. That is why all states will have to battle these by having a common strategy. To formulate and implement this common strategy, the government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in the spirit of ‘Cooperative Federalism’, ‘Whole of Government’ and ‘Team India’ approach, is promoting the 3C’s, that is, Cooperation, Coordination, and Collaboration between the Centre and the States,” the Union Home Minister said.
The chief ministers of Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, Kerala, Assam, Goa, Uttarakhand, Sikkim, Manipur, and Tripura, who are all in charge of their respective states’ home ministries, all attended the event.
Other participants included the Deputy Chief Ministers of Maharashtra and Nagaland; the Governor of Rajasthan; the Home Ministers of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, Chhattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Odisha, and Telangana; as well as the Finance Minister of Jharkhand.
