Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to launch a Rs 24,000-crore scheme on November 15 aimed at the comprehensive development of Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTG) during ‘Janjatiya Gaurav Divas’ in Jharkhand.
The initiative includes the launch of the “Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra”, the release of the 15th instalment of PM-KISAN, and the inauguration of various development projects in the state. PM Modi will visit Jharkhand on November 14-15, where he will pay tribute to Bhagwan Birsa Munda at his birthplace, Ulihatu Village.
The Prime Minister will participate in the celebration of the third Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas in Khunti, where he will launch the ‘Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra’ and the Pradhan Mantri Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups Mission. This mission, with a budget of about Rs 24,000 crore, aims to provide basic facilities to PVTG families and habitations, including road and telecom connectivity, electricity, housing, clean water, sanitation, education, health, nutrition, and sustainable livelihood opportunities.
The ‘Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra’ will focus on creating awareness and providing benefits of welfare schemes to people, with enrollment of potential beneficiaries during the Yatra. The Prime Minister will also release the 15th installment of PM-KISAN, totaling about Rs. 18,000 crore, benefiting over eight crore beneficiaries.
Additionally, he will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for various projects in sectors such as rail, road, education, coal, petroleum, and natural gas. The PVTG Development Mission, announced in the 2023-24 budget, will be implemented through the convergence of interventions from nine ministries, covering rural roads, housing, and drinking water. Scheme norms will be relaxed to ensure coverage of remote habitations of PVTGs.
Janjatiya Gaurav Divas
The “Janjatiya Gaurav Divas” is the name that came into effect on 15 November 2021 after the Union Cabinet of the Government of India, in its meeting held on 10 November 2021, decided to remember the contribution of tribal freedom fighters, as part of the year-long celebration of the 75th anniversary of Indian independence.
