PM Modi to be warmly welcomed at BJP’s headquarters

Thousands of party workers are expected to assemble at the BJP headquarters in New Delhi on Wednesday evening to greet Prime Minister Narendra Modi following the successful G20 Summit.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be greeted with a rousing welcome when he arrives for the party’s national election committee meeting, according to party leaders. This would be Modi’s first visit to the party office since presiding over the G20 conference here last weekend, which was widely regarded as a big success, with foreign leaders praising his leadership.

Following the welcome, the Prime Minister will attend the BJP’s Central Election Committee meeting to choose candidates for the important Madhya Pradesh Assembly elections.

In its political rhetoric, the BJP has frequently underlined the global recognition of his leadership and India’s increased international standing, a subject that is certain to gain prominence following the G20 conference. The central election committee will meet to discuss the party’s candidates for the upcoming state elections.

The CEC includes Modi, Union Ministers Amit Shah and Rajnath Singh, as well as party President J P Nadda and other senior figures. Last month, the CEC convened and named candidates for 39 seats in Madhya Pradesh and 21 in Chhattisgarh. These were for seats where the BJP did not have an incumbent.

In a departure from past practice, the BJP has begun naming its assembly poll candidates far in advance of the election dates. Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Telangana, and Mizoram will hold assembly elections in November-December, the final set of state elections before the Lok Sabha elections in 2024.
