PM Modi interacts with vaccinators in Varanasi, takes ground report

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday interacted with beneficiaries and vaccinators of the Covid vaccination drive in Varanasi through video conference. He greeted all the doctors, medical staff, paramedical staff, sanitation workers and everyone else associated with the Covid-19 vaccine programme. While stating that this is the largest vaccination programme in the world, PM Modi lamented his inability to be with the people during this occasion owing to the pandemic.

“Today, the country has the willpower to make its own vaccine. All efforts have been made for the vaccines to reach every corner of the country at a rapid pace. India is completely self-reliant for the biggest need of the world and is even helping many other countries,” he said.

The Prime Minister noted the medical infrastructure changes in Varanasi and surrounding areas over the last six years, which have helped the Purvanchal area during these times of Covid. He noted that Varanasi is showing the very same speed during the vaccination drive as well. More than 20,000 health professionals will be vaccinated in Varanasi, for which 15 vaccination centres have been set up.

PM Modi said the purpose of Friday’s interaction was to enquire about the arrangements of the vaccination drive and any issues regarding the same. He talked to the people involved in the drive and expressed hope that the feedback from Varanasi will help in understanding the situation elsewhere as well.

He also interacted with matrons, ANM workers, doctors and lab technicians while conveying the country’s gratitude towards them. The Prime Minister also appreciated scientists for their monk-like dedication and mentioned that the country was better prepared to face the pandemic due to steps taken in Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan that had created a culture of cleanliness.
