PM Modi grants 70,000 appointments, stresses on future opportunities

In a landmark event on Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the National Rozgar Mela via video conference and distributed approximately 70,000 appointment letters to newly appointed government employees across various departments and organisations.
Modi emphasised India’s growing global attractiveness, driven by political stability and a proactive government known for its progressive economic and social decisions. He championed the National Rozgar Mela as a symbol of the government’s commitment to employment, and celebrated the fact that BJP and NDA-ruled states frequently host similar events.
The Prime Minister marked the commencement of the Azadi Ka Amrit Kaal as an epoch of opportunity for those entering government service. He highlighted their potential to contribute to India’s journey towards becoming a developed nation within the next 25 years. “Give everything for the future of the country,” Modi urged the new appointees, recognizing their integral role in shaping India’s future.
As he congratulated the new employees, Modi shed light on emerging opportunities for both employment and entrepreneurship within the Indian economy. He pointed to initiatives such as the Mudra Scheme and Startup India as catalysts for young Indians transforming from job seekers to job creators.
The Prime Minister commended the drive to provide government jobs to the youth as unprecedented. He lauded recruitment institutions like SSC, UPSC, and RRB for making the recruitment process simpler, transparent, and faster.
Despite economic recession, a global pandemic, and a disrupted supply chain, Modi asserted that India’s economy is soaring to new heights. He attributed this growth, in part, to multinational investments and new industries, which are enhancing employment opportunities. Specifically, he showcased the booming automobile sector, which contributes over 6.5% to India’s GDP.
Modi also acknowledged the expanding electric mobility market in India and credited the Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme for aiding the automotive industry’s growth. He stressed that India today stands as a more stable, safe, and robust nation than a decade ago, contrasting with a time when “scam and misuse of public money were the hallmark of governance.”
He took pride in global agencies acknowledging India’s progress in areas like ease of living, infrastructure development, and ease of doing business. Modi spotlighted massive investments in physical and social infrastructure, such as the Jal Jeevan Mission that aims to provide safe drinking water to all.
As he cautioned about the detriments of “dynasty politics and nepotism in the recruitment process,” Modi drew attention to recent scams and illegal practices, asserting that the current government is safeguarding the youth’s future.
He reiterated the government’s commitment to language diversity and its role in providing employment opportunities. He also emphasised the transformation of government systems and services to accommodate the rapidly evolving digital world, ultimately improving citizens’ experiences.
In his concluding remarks, Modi advised new appointees to retain their learning instincts and take advantage of e-learning resources like the iGoT platform. He reiterated the collective commitment towards a developed India and celebrated the Rozgar Mela as a crucial step towards employment generation, youth empowerment, and national development.
The Prime Minister’s address reached 43 places across the country, with new appointees given the opportunity to train themselves through Karmayogi Prarambh, an online module on the iGOT Karmayogi portal that hosts over 400 e-learning courses.
