PM Modi gets rousing welcome at BJP’s meeting following his victories in three states

At the Parliamentary Party meeting on Thursday, which preceded the start of the first day of the Winter Session of Parliament, BJP MPs gave Prime Minister Narendra Modi a hearty welcome. BJP National President JP Nadda had earlier in the day welcomed the Prime Minister, which came after the party’s victories in three states: Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh.

Party MPs welcomed PM Modi with chants of “Modi ji ka swagat hai” and applause.
PM Modi was also welcomed with a garland and shawl by Nadda.
The meeting, the first by BJP during the current Winter Session comes amid suspense over the selection of Chief Ministers in these three states.

The meeting took place at the Parliament House complex’s Balayogi Auditorium prior to the start of Day 4 of the House’s proceedings.
The important job of choosing prospective chief ministerial candidates to head new cabinets for the next five years falls to the BJP.In addition to surprising their opponents, the BJP also surprised some pollsters who had projected close races in these states.
The Congress’s hopes for 2024 were severely damaged by the election results in four states, particularly the defeats in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh, which left the party out of power in a large portion of the Hindi heartland.

The BJP, which had been battling close to 20 years of incumbency, won a resounding mandate bagging 163 seats while the Congress finished a distant second at 66 seats. In Rajasthan, the vote count painted a starkly different picture to what some of the pollsters had predicted, with the BJP poised to form the government, winning 115 seats, and the Congress trailing at 69 seats. Of the 90 assembly constituencies in Chhattisgarh, the BJP bagged 54 while the Congress won 35.
