Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday distributed around 71,000 appointment letters via video conferencing to newly-inducted recruits in government departments and organizations.

While addressing the ‘Rozgar Mela’ virtually PM Modi said, “In the business world, it is said, ‘The consumer is always right’. Similarly, ‘Citizen is always right’ should be the motto of governance.”

PM Modi highlighted the need to create “employment and self-employment opportunities” and said, “We are committed to continually creating employment and self-employment opportunities. With infrastructure development, opportunities continue to increase. When there is rapid development, self-employment opportunities increase exponentially. Today, the self-employment field is progressing.”

Earlier in the Rojgar Mela, PM Modi also talked with an appointee who got a job in PNB West Bengal’s Suprabha Biswas and asked, “What experience do you have with digital transactions? Are people enthusiastic about digital transactions?”

Responding to PM Modi’s questions Suprabha said, “We ask people to install a banking app through which they can do the online transaction and need not come to the bank for every work.”

Another recruit, Faizal Showkat Shah, a resident of Jammu and Kashmir, said, “I have been recruited at NIT Srinagar. I am happy that I got my appointment letter in the previous Rozgar Mela and am interacting with you today.”

“The Rozgar Mela is a step towards the fulfilment of the commitment of the prime minister to accord the highest priority to employment generation.
