PM addresses the nation, talks about “Next 25 years”

In a stirring speech to the nation on Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi recalled the bravery of women and the sacrifices of freedom fighters along the country’s journey from one milestone to another in a stirring speech on Monday as India marked 75 years of independence. He referred to Jawaharlal Nehru, India’s first prime minister, and Mahatma Gandhi in his declaration that he was the first prime minister to address the country from the famous Red Fort, where he was born after independence. “Gandhi’s dream of caring for the last person… and his aspiration of making the last person capable, I dedicated myself to that.”

Raising the slogan of “Jai Kisan, Jai Jawan, Jai Anusandhan, Jai Vigyan (Hail farmers, youth, innovation, and science), PM Modi said: “We can’t be complacent because of all the achievements in 75 years. The next 25 years are crucial for India. The way the world sees India is changing.”

Additionally, he made “five commitments for the growth of India.” The prime minister proclaimed “five promises for growth (panch prann),” highlighting the first as the “goal of developed India and only big aspirations,” the second as “no form of slavery and removal of any trace of colonial mindset,” the third as “pride in our heritage,” the fourth as “unity among 130 crore Indians,” and the fifth as “citizens’ duty, which includes the prime minister and chief ministers.”

The youth, “who would be 50 in the year 2047,” PM Modi said, “should take an oath to make India a developed country.” “When we swear an oath, we uphold it. That’s why there was a stir when I mentioned Swachh Bharat in my first address,” he highlighted.
