PK’S PROPOSALS FOUND THEIR WAY INTO CONGRESS CHINTAN SHIVIR

The Congress party convened its three-day-long Chintan Shivir in Rajasthan Udaipur in which more than 400 party leaders from across the country participated and shared their views to strengthen the organisation and offered suggestions for improving party performance in the coming assembly and general elections.

Interestingly, the many ideas discussed and proposals passed in Chintan Shivir were earlier proposed by election strategist Prashant Kishor during his presentation to Congress president Sonia Gandhi. In his PowerPoint presentation, PK had put forward a proposal to strengthen the party at the grassroots and the same was adopted by Congress Party as mandal committees to be introduced. Similarly, following an outreach programme by the party president to the masses and workers in the organisation proposed in the presentation, the party now has decided to organise a yatra from Kashmir to Kanyakumari. PK had in his presentation strongly attacked the media and communication strategy of the grand old party which found an echo in the closing speech of Rahul Gandhi at the conclusion of the three-day-long camp.

In the third week of April, Prashant Kishor gave a detailed presentation, which included 600 slides, to the senior leaders of the Congress Party, including Sonia Gandhi, detailing a road map for the revival of the moribund organization. However, the deal failed for reasons best known to them, but it seems that the ideas which he floated have more or less

found a place in the party’s revival programme.

Going back to 2016, when PK was looking after Rahul Gandhi’s campaign for UP elections, he used to design a political day programme with a soft Hindutva message by visiting famous temples and places of worship, though the Congress Party and its poll ally Samajwadi Party could not succeed in making any mark in the elections. But when Rahul Gandhi campaigned in Gujarat elections the design and approach of his campaign was the same as used by Prashant Kishor.
