PHED launches vigilant crackdown against water theft

The Water Department is gearing up to enforce stringent measures against individuals involved in water theft from the Bisalpur drinking water line. The initiative aims to disconnect illegal connections and impose bans on those engaging in such activities. Any attempt to reconnect a severed connection will result in the filing of an FIR at the police station.
Concerning the issue, Ajay Singh Rathore, Chief Engineer of the Public Health Engineering Department (PHED), mentioned that a letter has been sent to the Police Commissioner, requesting the provision of essential forces for the upcoming campaign. He emphasized that the campaign is scheduled to commence on December 18. Eight teams have been constituted for the initiative, focusing on the removal of illegal water connections and preventing individuals from reinstating them.
It is worth noting that there has been a considerable rise in water theft from the Bisalpur pipeline in the capital city. The audacity of water thieves is evident as they have fearlessly installed illegal tap connections on the government water line. Now, upon receiving complaints, the PHED department has taken action. As per the available information, a significant number of individuals in areas like Amer, Kho Nagoriyan, Agra Road, and Jagatpura are engaged in water theft from the Beesalpur line through unauthorized connections. Concerning the initiative to eliminate illegal connections, the Water Department will primarily concentrate on the Amer, Kho Nagoriyan, Agra Road, and Jagatpura areas. These locations recently received Bisalpur lines, and a considerable number of individuals in these areas have established unauthorized connections since the commencement of the water supply from Bisalpur.
This illicit activity has led to the theft of thousands of litres of water.
In the areas of the capital where new lines have been laid, a supply of about 9.5 MLD (Million Litres per Day) of water is taking place. This includes 3 MLD in the Jagatpura area, 3 MLD in Kho Nagoriyan, 2 MLD in Jamdoli, and 1.5 MLD in the Amer area.
