Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh, is delighted to announce Dr. D. Nageshwar Reddy as the distinguished Chief Guest for the inauguration ceremony of the New Academic Session on January 8, 2024, beginning at 8:00 am. Recognized as a pioneer in Gastroenterology, Dr. Reddy will grace the occasion with his enlightening keynote address titled, “What PGI Taught Me and What It Didn’t Teach Me.”
In this eagerly awaited speech, Dr. Reddy will intricately weave the narrative of his transformative journey—a compelling odyssey tracing his evolution from PGI classrooms and wards to his eminent position as an accomplished Gastroenterologist. Attendees are sure to be captivated by the invaluable insights that Dr. Reddy will share, making this inaugural event a beacon of inspiration and enlightenment for all present.
Dr. D Nageshwar Reddy, a distinguished Padma Bhushan Awardee and proud alumnus of PGIMER, Chandigarh, currently serves as the Chairman of the Asian Institute of Gastroenterology, Hyderabad. Globally recognized as an authority in Gastroenterology, his stellar contributions encompass over 1000 research papers and significant inputs to more than 40 GI textbooks. Dr. Reddy has been honored with prestigious accolades, including the BC Roy Award from the Indian Medical Council, the Padma Shri Award, and the Padma Bhushan Award from the Government of India, highlighting his outstanding achievements in the field.
The event will also feature a significant moment for the newly enrolled resident doctors of the July 2023 and January 2024 sessions. A solemn “Oath and Pinning Ceremony” will be administered, with around 388 MD, MS, DM, and MCh resident doctors participating in this propitious event. This symbolic ritual serves as a poignant reminder of their dedication towards maintaining the utmost ethical standards and providing exceptional care to patients, setting the tone for the commencement of their academic expedition at PGIMER.
