Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan Affairs Minister Ali Amin, who was campaigning for the upcoming elections in Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir, was attacked by local people.
During the ongoing election campaign in the Hattian Bala area on Thursday, people surrounded Amin’s convoy. The Daily Guardian has the video in which it can be seen that the minister got so nervous that he started firing in the air with a pistol to save his life.
Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan recently appointed Amin as the chairman of the election campaign committee on behalf of his party, PTI. The PTI on Twitter ascribed blame to the PML-N leadership. “Fearing the defeat of Raja Farooq Haider, it is clear from this video of the attack on the convoy of Murad Saeed that the PML-N has lost its footing. Now Kashmiris will be holding the incompetent PML-N rulers accountable for five years,” Imran’s party said.
Political experts, however, believe that there is pent-up anger among the people towards the government. According to them, “Pakistan has only used them while there is no facility of electricity, water and road health in POK.”
Under the rule of Imran Khan, who promised ‘Naya Pakistan’, Islamabad has not only been humiliated again and again on the international stage, but also inflation has broken all records. On 10 June, a top election official announced the Assembly elections in POK on 25 July.
