Patna sees alarming dengue cases, separate wards for patients set up

Amid dengue outbreak in Bihar’s capital Patna, the health department has set up separate wards for the patients in hospitals. The cases of viral fever along with dengue are increasing day by day in the city.
District Programme Manager of the district health committee, Dr Vivek Singh said, “In monsoon season dengue cases usually increase. A special ward has been set up in all medical universities and local hospitals for dengue patients in Patna. There is no need to panic. Usually, patients recover in 2-3 days after beginning the treatment.”
“A total of 366 people are suffering from dengue in Patna, 70 new cases of dengue have come yesterday. Cases of dengue usually occur in September, October and November. Complete preparations have been made by the department in view of the surge in dengue cases. 10 beds have been kept for the patients infected with dengue in Sadar Hospital”, he added. According to Dr Sanjay Kumar, Nodal Officer of Dengue Ward in Nalanda Medical College and Hospital (NMCH), 20 beds have been made available in the hospital for patients infected by dengue.
