Parliament breach: Delhi HC rejects immediate hearing on police remand of Neelam

The Delhi High Court declined on Thursday to take Neelam’s appeal, the woman detained in the December 13 Parliament security breach case, up for immediate consideration.

Neelam had declared the police remand to be unlawful in her appeal. In the trial court hearings, Neelam claimed she was not even permitted to consult her lawyer to represent her side. Neelam brought this up in her petition.

The matter was brought up for an urgent hearing by his lawyer before Nina Bansal Krishna and Shalinder Kaur vacation bench. However, the bench decided against holding an urgent hearing. “Nothin is urgent in the case, it will be taken into consideration on January 3,” the bench stated.

Neelam has disputed her remand order, according to her lawyer, and her police custody is set to expire on January 5. The judge denied the request, stating that there was still time for the hearing to happen before the remand concluded.

During the hearing on December 21, the court ordered the four accused parties in the UAPA case that Delhi Police had filed against them in relation to the recent security breach in Parliament to spend an extra fifteen days in police detention.

After the seven-day police custody term ended, the accused were brought before the court. The police reported to the court that they had located a lot of significant evidence in just seven days.
