Panchkula police offers Rs 1L reward for information on illegal liquor

Panchkula Police will offer a reward of one lakh rupees to individuals providing information about illegal liquor being sold in commercial quantities. This announcement was made by the Panchkula Police, accompanied by the establishment of special checkpoints by the administration to inspect vehicles in various areas of Panchkula.
A police spokesperson stated that, in light of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in 2024, Deputy Commissioner of Police for Crime and Traffic in Panchkula, Mukesh Malhotra, emphasized the need for strict action against illegal liquor smuggling. He urged the public to come forward with any information related to illegal liquor, promising a cash reward of Rs 1 lakh for credible tips.

The Deputy Commissioner of Police highlighted the imposition of the code of conduct due to the elections in Haryana, noting the heightened risk of black market activities, particularly in illicit liquor, during such times. Panchkula shares borders with Chandigarh, Punjab, and Himachal Pradesh, and with elections scheduled in these states as well, there’s concern over potential black market activities. Therefore, the public is urged to report any suspicious activities related to the supply of illegal liquor from these neighboring states to the Panchkula Police.

Additionally, special checkpoints have been set up as part of election security measures. Police personnel and Deputy Commissioner’s office employees have been instructed to establish these checkpoints across Panchkula, particularly at night, where drivers’ details, including names, mobile numbers, and vehicle numbers, are recorded, and vehicles are inspected.
